Want to learn about blogging for PR? Read on…

You probably know that blogging is a great marketing tool. But what if I told you that blogging can also be used as part of your PR campaign, to get you publicity for your business?

First of all, let’s look at the general benefits of blogging to your business.

According to figures from marketing software company Hubspot, businesses that blog get a whopping 55% more traffic and a massive 70% more leads than those that don’t. And 65% of internet users read a blog. So blogging is definitely something you want to be doing.

But what about using blogging for PR? One way you can use blogging for PR is to have a fabulous blog full of great, shareable content that gets attention from journalists.

But aside from that, I highly recommend using guest blogging to get publicity for your business. Guest blogging is where you write a blog post for someone else’s blog. There are so many great blogging platforms out there – Thrive Global, Mind Body Green,  Huff Post, Tiny Buddha, to name just a few – and being published on any of these gets you out to a brand new audience, positions you as an expert, drives more followers and leads and ultimately grows your business.

But how do you know what to write about? Here are a few ideas:

  • Incorporate a current news story
  • Incorporate a recent statistic
  • Share a personal story
  • Write about something that’s happening in your industry
  • Review a book, product or service
  • Write about a current trend
  • Write a beginner’s guide for your expert topic
  • Create an ultimate guide for your expert topic
  • Create a round-up post/listicle

Now you have some blogging inspiration, think about how you’re going to use your blog to get attention from journalists, and what guest blogging opportunities you might be able to seek out.
